It appears that Ford Australia and the dealer servicing network are forgetful when it comes to resetting the oil change light when a vehicle is in for service. It makes you wonder if they actually did anything when they service your vehicle – they probably forget to even change the oil. Lets just say, for the price you pay for a service, you think that something this simple would be done like clockwork.
So this time instead of going out of our way to visit the dealer to have it reset again, I thought i’d just Google to see if anyone else has either had this issue or has worked out how to reset it because they service their vehicle themselves.
I was amazed, there were heaps of hits for exactly this issue and how to solve it. First hit was from heycall’s YouTube channel where he did a video on how to reset it.
So basically you need to perform the following:
- Turn the ignition to ON so the error comes up on the screen and the orange console light also illuminates. Do not start the engine.
- Press and hold both the brake and accelerator pedals down for 20 seconds. The light will extinguish on the console.
- Turn the ignition off and then on, the error/notification should no longer be present.
That is it, very simple and something that Ford should include in the users manual if they want to continually refuse to reset it during a service.
